Elizabeth Stone, Managing Director, has 25 years’ experience in publishing, primarily in the academic and cultural fields. An Open Scholarship to read History at Lawrence of Arabia’s old college in Oxford led to a First Class Honours degree. Her long-standing commitment to publishing began with Flammarion in Paris, and her subsequent career took her to Switzerland, South America and Greece. Back in the UK, as managing editor of Sutton Publishing, she oversaw the publication of over 200 history and general interest titles a year. She founded Bourchier Ltd in 2010.
David Stone, her co-director, enjoyed an international career, first as a musician and then as advisor to governments and cities on cultural strategies. Inspired by his time at King’s College, Cambridge, and by his boyhood in the spiritually rich countryside of Gloucestershire, UK, he developed strong beliefs that have driven his life’s contribution: As a violinist and conductor he performed worldwide. A recording artist in his own right, he was a Principal of Lord Menuhin’s Chamber Orchestra. Specialist education at all ages and the needs of young professionals have been a primary commitment in his work.
They now live in Wiltshire, in the Cotswolds, and collect fine printing and rare antiquarian books, from the 15th century to today.
